• Sustainability is a concept which is becoming crucially important to many industries, but it’s still not a word that you hear mentioned all that often in conjunction with the short-term rental industry.
Perhaps it is telling that the company behind the launch of Zerobnb, a new site for listing sustainable and low energy holiday lets, is Finnish renewable energy company Neste, the world’s leading producer of low carbon biodiesel.
The site is described as “a gentle nudge to inspire Airbnb to add a sustainable housing category to its website”, and will only be live until Airbnb takes this step.
The Zerobnb website was launched to coincide with the International Day of Climate Action, and to raise awareness that tourism is responsible for almost a tenth of global greenhouse gas emissions.
