17•12•18 Welcome to the Short Term Rentalz weekly newsletter!

• The second part of our interview with Tim Choate, CEO of RedAwning, revealed some intriguing predictions ahead for 2019 in the short-term rental industry.

What is clear is that Choate is envisaging a busy year ahead for RedAwning. He has already hinted that the company will be developing a home product with Amazon, which would potentially incorporate a smart concierge system. In addition, he said he was looking to cement RedAwning's position as the second largest vacation rental network brand by continuing to work for its property managers, by learning from them and providing them with a full set of solutions so that it can make the booking process more seamless and trusted for guests.

In his 2019 Short-Term Rental Industry Predictions feature, Michael Goldin highlighted consolidation of vendors as one of the trends for the year, following HomeAway's recent roll up into Expedia and Vacasa's acquisition of Oasis Collections among others.

Meanwhile, Choate is predicting Google will lead to a consolidation of booking channels in 2019 : “They've basically announced they're doing tests not just in Europe but I'm imagining that'll be in 2019," he said. "I don't think there's room for a lot of new, smaller players."

We would also like to remind you that there is still one more Short Term Rentalz newsletter to be sent out next Monday (24th) before the New Year. Until then, have a great week!
