The new year is less than two weeks old, and for the serviced apartment and extended stay sector it has kicked off with some serious momentum, particularly on the M&A front.

We have seen HNWI investment in to Irish operator Staycity; properties changing hands in the US, the Netherlands and Singapore; and in the UK a new lender has stated its intention to enter the serviced apartment market.

As I said in our last newsletter 2019 is going to be a huge year for us at Serviced Apartment News, and it is fantastic to see the positivity and activity coursing through the industry so soon in to the year.

I'm delighted to say we have forthcoming events in all the flourishing markets mentioned above, and I hope to meet many of you at them. Later this month we will be in Berlin for the second annual RECHARGE - the innovative and collaborative new format we launched last year in Amsterdam. The event is limited to just 140 places and there are very few tickets left, so don't miss your chance to join us at what will be a memorable and hugely enjoyable couple of days.

Next month, we travel to Thailand for the first Serviced Apartment Summit Asia, which takes place in Bangkok on February 21 and 22. As a hub of the industry, we felt it was import to take the Summits to this dynamic region. March sees the fourth staging of the Serviced Apartment Awards in London - at a new, bigger venue. The deadline for entries is January 31st so don't pass up the opportunity to benchmark your company and buildings against the best in the industry. There is no cost to enter and you can enter as many times as you like. Click here to find out more.

And in April, we'll be back in New York City for the 2019 Serviced Apartment Summit Americas - where the extended stay hotel sector keeps going from strength to strength. These are exciting times!
