11•02•19 Welcome to the latest Short Term Rentalz weekly newsletter!

• Readers following this newsletter regularly recently will be aware Airbnb has been announcing a number of partnerships with organisations, authorities and cities alike.

This week, it was announced that Airbnb was partnering with Visit Britain and Visit England, as a way of promoting local tourism and experiences in the UK to domestic and international visitors.

The link up between the company and the respective organisations is designed to primarily target the younger British generation, with Visit Britain claiming that around half of UK domestic 'experience' bookings on Airbnb are being made by the 18-34 year-old bracket.

Meanwhile, the partnership ties in with Visit Britain's own #MyMicroGap marketing campaign, which will encourage young Brits to engage in local experiences by showcasing their creativity.

Visit Britain commercial director Carol Dray said: "We want to boost demand for travel right now, inspiring more young Brits to take ‘microgaps’ and be advocates for experience-based travel in Britain now and in the future, benefitting local businesses and boosting the economy."

In the past month alone, Airbnb has agreed collaborations with the Danish meeting booking site Gaest and the city of Aarhus (and soon to be Prague), as well as signing a memorandum of understanding in Martinique

The news coincides with Airbnb announcing former Virgin America chief executive Fred Reid as its first global head of transportation. The latest integration of transportation into its service offering is another example of Airbnb expanding from its initial accommodation business plan, as it aims to attract over one billion visitors to its site annually by 2028.
