• Ahead of the IHM Serviced Apartment Awards this week, Maison Privee, which has been shortlisted in the "Best Short-Term Rental Platform / Operator" category, has revealed its luxury vacation rental portfolio will be worth over $300 million this year.

Since a $4 million Series A funding round in 2018, the Dubai-based firm, co-founded by Paul Mallee and Rami Shamaa, has seen its guest numbers rise to over 10,000 in its second year in operation.

Mallee said: "Dubai is a huge tourism hub where we continue to see significant opportunities.”

Maison Privee is shortlisted alongside Air Agents, BridgeStreet, The Plum Guide, ReloQuest and for the awards ceremony at Park Plaza Riverbank on Thursday 14th March.

Shamaa added: "We have always pursued excellence in our endeavour to create an exclusive and discerning luxury offering and we are delighted to be recognised at a global level.”

The vacation rental provider has also appointed Ryan Kasper as its head of property acquisition.

Meanwhile, Airbnb has agreed to acquire hotel-booking service HotelTonight in another sign of diversification from its principal short-term rental service.

According to HotelTonight's website, the company focuses on making last-minute trips easy and fun, offering guests seamless, on-demand booking for boutique and independent hotels.

At the same time, Airbnb is reporting that same-day bookings are growing by double year-over-year, in a statistic which will help the company to deliver on its promise to provide authentic, local experiences to its diverse base of users seeking short-term rental accommodation.
