17•06•19 Welcome to the latest Short Term Rentalz weekly newsletter!

• Airbnb's latest foray into the multi-day tours arena with its "Adventures" scheme is a continuation of the trend of niche markets gaining more traction, as travellers seek novelties and unique experiences.

The venture expands on the firm's existing "Experiences" service by offering tours in small groups which can last up to a week, as opposed to one-off activities. Providing unique destination experiences means Airbnb can target all travel demographics and deliver a platform to local guides which helps to build partnerships with more organisations and operators around the world.

Local guides deliver meals, assistance and coordination to Adventures guests to ensure their needs are fully satisfied. This has been designed as an answer to one-dimensional mass market tourism and means Airbnb is closer to leading the way in a space dominated by TourRadar and Evaneos.

It follows on from last week's "That's Why We Airbnb" campaign launch, which Airbnb wants to stand out by targeting millennials in a fragmented marketplace and helping them embrace concepts like individuality and tolerance when exploring the world.

The news also signals the direction Airbnb wants to move in over the next 12 months.

Reuters reported the rental platform was planning to branch into creative content in April to inspire customers to travel more and broaden their horizons, ahead of a potential initial public offering.

A move into such content would underline Airbnb's goal to become an all-in-one travel portal, where its app would give the company greater insights into curating trips to target its users' specific needs.

Meanwhile, tickets are still available for this year's Serviced Apartment Summit Europe, where Airbnb territory manager for Northern Europe, Robin Clifford, will take part in a snapchat discussion on 2 July. Tickets for the event at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London, are on sale at this link.
