• In another indication of its commitment to its growing offering for business travellers, Airbnb is facilitating work-friendly stays on business trips by introducing a new work trip toggle and improved search result capabilities.
Both facilities will be suitable across web, mobile web and Airbnb app platforms, enabling guests to let the firm know what type of trip they are making when booking short-term rental accommodation.
As such, the toggle will allow for the displaying of more pertinent listings for travellers making specific trips, meaning business travellers will be able to select anything from an entire home to an Airbnb Plus designer home or a boutique hotel that suits their needs. The listings will also have heightened quality standards as they will have received positive ratings from previous travellers.
It is a further sign of Airbnb honing in on corporate accommodation, particularly with the development of its Airbnb for Work category, which recently partnered with World Orbit Travel in New Zealand in order to bring the comforts of home to professionals working away.
Ultimately, Airbnb believes it can create an environment that improves the ways in which professionals travel, collaborate, create and grow while boosting their morale and creating a worthwhile experience for them so that they return to use Airbnb's services again.
This was echoed by Book4Time's Roger Sholanki, who spoke to ShortTermRentalz about how short-term rentals and hotels can remain competitive in the sharing economy.
He said: “To thrive in the fiercely competitive environment, rentals will need to reinvent themselves using experiences, amenities, and technology strategies to maintain and grow their market share.”
In other news, short-term rental data provider Transparent has released its first online revenue management course, which aims to provide property managers with the necessary knowledge and skills to flourish in the industry. Furthermore, the company wants to ensure industry players' revenue and performance are optimised by helping them to make more data-informed choices.
The company is offering the course at €249 but will give free access to the first 50 sign-ups through ShortTermRentalz at this link.
