• As we move into December, mark your diary for a special evening at our inaugural Shortyz Awards 2020 - now just over three months away on 11 March. Click here to view a short voxpop video about what to expect on the big night and click here to purchase your tables and tickets for an evening not to forget!
The awards, which are taking place during a unique boat party on the River Thames in London, bring the short-term rental industry together to recognise excellence among industry peers, highlight innovation and best practice, reward achievement and celebrate startup technology.
We've been inundated with nominations across our 13 award categories, including Best channel manager, Best property management company [10 units +], Best use of social media, Best app or website solution, Rising Star and Pioneer Award among them. Well done to the likes of Transparent, TravelNest, Hostfully, Homelike, Vanessa de Souza Lage [Rentals United], James Jenkins-Yates [Airsorted] and William Tonnard [LovelyStay] who have already submitted their full entries!
Visit our newly-launched Shortyz website here, where you can find all the information you need, including event details, the nomination and judging process, award categories and the judging panel.
With the deadline for submitting nominations on 31 December 2019 fast approaching, we encourage everyone to get nominating your Shortyz Stars at shortyz@internationalhospitality.media - why not submit your entry nice and early before the Christmas holidays?
• Elsewhere in the short-term rental world, San Francisco-based short-term rental company Landing has announced it is launching in five more cities in the United States [Nashville, Birmingham, New York, Los Angeles and Austin] in the latest stage of its growth strategy.
The firm, which offers a membership model to add greater flexibility to renting, is particularly targeting young, career-minded professionals who are moving to big cities to pursue new jobs, activities and experiences. Landing allows its members to lease fully-furnished, luxury apartments in so-called "seriously elevated urban villages", that can be rented out on a short-term rental basis.
This membership-based model, similar to the way in which private travel club Inspirato operates, will be explored in greater detail in my 2020 predictions piece to be published later this week. It's not too late to get in touch with me if you want to contribute to this highly-anticipated article!
