20•01•20 Welcome to the latest ShortTermRentalz weekly newsletter!
• Our first event of 2020, RECHARGE, gets underway in Barcelona today as hospitality and real estate leaders prepare to take part in short and punchy debates, stimulate collective conversation and drive the sector forward.
Today consists of a curated experiential urban expedition around Barcelona, touring a number of ground-breaking hotel, apartment, co-working and hostel hospitality and real estate concepts, including Torre Del Governador, YAYS Sagrera, one co work and Safestay Passeig de Gràcia.
Meanwhile on Day Two tomorrow, I will be participating in a debate with YAYS' chief investment and development officer, Steven Smit, and T5 Strategies managing director Sean Worker, proposing the following motion: 'The hybrid master hospitality lease model maximises owner profitability more than a standard management contract'. It follows up on my previous master lease model thought leadership piece and it is sure to be an engaging and thought-provoking discussion.

In other news, less than a fortnight remains before the nominations deadline for our inaugural Shortyz Awards closes on 31 January 2020 at 23.59 GMT. Ahead of the awards on 11 March, entries are being submitted across all of our 13 award categories, including two categories for individuals: Rising Star and Pioneer. Well done to the likes of Sykes Holiday Cottages, Leavy.co, Guy Westlake [Lavanda] and Breezeway who recently submitted their full entries!
