TOP STORY Corporate travel programmes lagging behind sustainability agenda UK: Six in every ten travel buyers who responded to a Business Travel Show survey on sustainability and the environment admit they do not have an ethical travel programme. LATEST NEWS FEATURES VIDEOS Editor's comment

• It’s alarming to learn that 60 per cent of corporate travel buyers who responded to a Business Travel Show survey do not have an ethical travel programme.
While 28 per cent plan to introduce one, a quarter believe it’s simply too costly and eight per cent have no intention to disrupt the status quo. It has got to the stage where sustainability and climate change is such a pressing issue, to ignore it and carry on as normal is not, in my opinion, a valid course of action.
More encouraging was the fact that around 40 per cent of buyers said that change in their organisations was being driven by the travellers themselves, rather than from the top down.
On the subject of wild weather, we are just about to embark on day two of RECHARGE 2020 in Barcelona amid gale force winds and driving rain - not what we were anticipating when we confirmed the venue! But the weather is not dampening spirits - we had a terrific day yesterday exploring a very diverse range of properties including serviced apartments, a co-working space, a hostel and even a derelict castle! Today promises to be just as stimulating.
