• Since the UK officially left the EU, BHN's Eloise Hanson has spoken to a number of hoteliers across the country gauging their sentiment and asking what effects they think Brexit will have on the hotel sector.
It probably won't come as a surprise that the overall view is that Brexit is a negative, particularly among general managers who head teams which contain up to 70 per cent of staff from EU nations. The effects of the withdrawal are clearly being felt already, and next year they are likely to be much more acute.
But hoteliers are nothing if not resilient and adaptable - the next few years are going to be eventful and probably difficult ones, but our industry will adapt, as it always does.
