14•04•20 Welcome to the latest ShortTermRentalz weekly newsletter!

• In light of the global disruption affecting the short-term rental and wider travel industry, ShortTermRentalz polled 36 property managers and management companies from around the world to see how their businesses were being impacted.

Among the key findings in the survey were:

  • 55.6 per cent of property managers have not laid off staff
  • 69.4 per cent of property managers have closed properties
  • 62.9 per cent of property managers expect leisure travel to rebound before business travel when travel restrictions are lifted
  • Estimates of how long it will take for levels of business to return to pre-pandemic levels vary from immediate to three years

Another purpose of the poll was to gather any ideas, tips or strategies that management companies could share which have helped them in their current situation. The insights that were collated within this industry report make for essential reading at a time of significant instability across the short-term rental sector as accommodation and service providers try to plot a path towards recovery.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the survey. To view the article and the full report, visit the link here.

• Here at STRz, we want to use the collective experience and knowledge of our readership for the good of the sector, and we are appealing for you to share any hints and tips that can help others.

You can read City Relay Solutions director Erskine Berry's outlook here on what the future may look like for the short-term rental industry as well as the challenges which remain, and International Hospitality Media CEO Piers Brown has also given his thoughts here on how the coronavirus will democratise technology within hospitality and real estate.

You can look forward to much more pertinent, thought-provoking content over the next few weeks and months as we keep our community informed with everything as it happens in the global short-term rental industry.

Given the rapidly changing landscape across the travel and accommodation segments, we at IHM are branching out into different types of media and I am delighted to reveal that we will be launching a new podcast series - look out for our debut episode in next week's newsletter!
