• In true 'if life gives you lemons' fashion, Quest Apartment Hotels has launched a TV advertising campaign aimed at encouraging domestic travel within Australia, as restrictions are eased.
It's a great idea, and shows a real proactive marketing approach, to recognise the pent-up demand among those who want to resume travel as soon as they can. It also sees Quest, which predominantly attracts business travellers to its properties, targeting the leisure market - a segment that is likely to bounce back sooner than corporate demand in many areas.
Traditionally, advertising has not been the serviced apartment sector's strong point, and in the seven years we've been publishing Serviced Apartment News, I can only think off the top of my head of two other TV campaigns, by Adagio (very recently) and Staycity, in 2014.
The Quest campaign is titled On The Road Again, and features a song called You & Me by up-and-coming Australian indie-folk duo The Dreggs - I guess Willie Nelson didn't answer his phone!
