Brisbane aparthotel opens after million-dollar refurb FEATURES VIDEOS/PODCASTS EDITOR'S COMMENT
• It was fascinating to hear James Gardiner, who was appointed GM at Staybridge Suites Vauxhall in January this year, say that "there's never been a busier time", when asked about what he and his team have been doing during the lockdown period.
While the hotel has stayed open, occupancy has obviously been hit, and staff numbers temporarily reduced, but Gardiner is looking to the future as well as negotiating the present. This is a key mindset for businesses to come out of the Covid period with strong foundations to build on, and it's a mentality that we at IHM can certainly identify with, as we have also been busier than ever since March.
We've learned new skills, launched a range of webinars and podcasts, and worked hard to ensure that we've stayed engaged with our audiences during what has been a hugely difficult time for them. And we're delighted that we are beginning to return to face-to-face events, with the first of a new series of dine-and-learn debates taking place next week, and the launch of the Urban Living Festival in November.
The latter will be a fantastic forum for hospitality and real estate professionals to meet and do business, while learning from each other and from adjacent asset classes. It's been a long time since a gathering like this has taken place, so don't miss out! Click here to find out more and book tickets.
• Don't forget to register for our next Urban Living webinar, which takes place on September 9th at 14:00 BST, when we will be discussing: The anyplace workplace - the office of today v the office of tomorrow.
Joining me for the session will be:
Future topics include: • Wednesday September 30th, 2PM BST: New real estate models and proptech investors SPONSORED BY RMS CLOUD • Wednesday October 7th 2PM BST: Investment: How to partially pandemic-proof your portfolio
