24•09•20 Welcome to the latest ShortTermRentalz newsletter!

• Sign ups are now open for the next webinar in our RockSTRz series on "Which business models will succeed in a post-Covid world?", taking place in a week's time on Thursday 1 October at 4pm BST.

Joining me for the session will be:

• Graham Donoghue, CEO, Sykes Holiday Cottages
• Henrik Kjellberg, CEO, Awaze
• Anna Skigin, CEO and co-founder, Frank Porter
• Jesse DePinto, co-founder and chief product officer, Frontdesk

You will learn:
- Challenges faced and opportunities for pivoting or restructuring
- Essential leadership qualities during a global lockdown
- The future of self-catered accommodation v managed vacation rentals
- How businesses will need to leverage technology to survive
- How business models will continue to evolve

You can now register for next week's unmissable webinar here.

The session will take on added significance after another turbulent week for the industry.

Hospitality venues in England will have to abide by a 10pm curfew from tonight and Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned the current restrictions, including the so-called "rule of six", could be in place for at least the next six months, creating yet more uncertainty as businesses seek to navigate another wave of restrictions on their operations.

Furthermore, short-term rental platforms such as Airbnb will become subject to stricter letting laws in Paris after the European Court of Justice upheld a French law that gives municipalities the authority to regulate such sites. The French capital and 21 other European cities have formed an alliance in calling for stricter rules on Airbnb and co, and the decision by the CJEU may prove to be a key turning point in enforcing regulations on short-term rentals and severely denting Airbnb's European business model as a result.
