• I absolutely love visiting owners and general managers on property - there's a real buzz from meeting face to face. And this time I had the pleasure of visiting the Vintry & Mercer and speaking with Anton Fedun, the hotel's owner.
During our conversation, Fedun was open about his experience of transforming the Vintry & Mercer, as well as converting his other property The Ampersand Hotel. He mentioned that at the beginning of the crisis, he considered investing in distressed assets to expand his hotel business. However, Fedun said: "We've spent so much money just to keep afloat that taking on a new project is difficult."
We also touched on the challenges that cities face when international travel is temporarily halted. "There's too much capacity in London," Fedun continued. "We're all sitting here on very low occupancy fighting to get local clients, offering really good incentives... It's sad really. London feels empty."
