• In my latest feature, I explore whether the membership model could present a lifeline for the hotel industry. With cash-flow issues arising from the travel bans brought about by Covid, coupled with a hotel's reliance on transient trade, pivoting to a members clubs or introducing a subscription service could help to generate a longer-term revenue stream.
However, in London alone, we've seen The Devonshire Club, h Club, The Curtain and The Wing all permanently close during the pandemic. The crisis has wreaked financial and operational stress upon thousands of businesses, though other factors are at play here. Has London become over-saturated? Or does the challenge lie with attracting and retaining members and loyal customers? What does the future hold?
