• The crossover of retail and fashion into the hotel space has been happening for some years now. It began with high-end designer brands lending their products to luxury hotels; we're now seeing the likes of Louboutin and Superdry embark on new hospitality projects. The latest on the scene is Lamborghini, which is planning a boutique hotel in Thailand following openings in China and Brazil.
Ferruccio Lamborghini, CEO and VP of design and development firm Tonino Lamborghini, intends to bring "a branded Tonino Lamborghini experience to the best places worldwide". Retail, the automotive sector and hotels have al struggled for the majority of 2020, seeing them form alliances for the future is exciting.
We've spent so much time indoors this year that design will play a much larger role in future development projects. It's already a defining feature of boutique hotels, and it therefore makes sense for big brand fashion houses to become involved in the sector. The creative opportunities the pandemic has presented will spur innovation and I'm intrigued to see exactly what this entails.
