• UK PM Boris Johnson's latest announcement is a complicated one, with a huge number of variables based around infection numbers. There are some definite positives, such as the planned phased return of crowds to events, increased testing and significant progress on developing a vaccine.
But the new tier system is going to mean a continued fight for survival for many hospitality businesses, with UKHospitality CEO Kate Nicholls warning that many businesses would “struggle to be viable without additional support” from the Chancellor if they are unable to trade through the Christmas period.
Johnson said: “It will be a hard winter, a long road to spring but we have turned a corner.” Let's hope he is right.
