Quick Q&A: Cyril Vaussard, Tulip Residences SAN catches up with Cyril Vaussard, managing director of Louvre Hotels Group's new aparthotel brand Tulip Residences.
EDITOR'S COMMENT
• It's been well documented that a number of significant shareholders are firmly opposed to Starwood Capital and Blackstone's proposed $6 billion acquisition of Extended Stay America, but it was something of a shock when an SEC filing revealed that two directors of Extended Stay America's real estate trust board have also come out against it.
Neil Brown and Simon Turner think the proposed $19.50 per share offer is too low, and Brown in particular believes the timing of the deal is flawed, as travel stocks are beginning to rebound.
The rest of the ESA board are sticking to their guns and recommending the deal goes through, but I don't think we've heard the last of the objections and the deal may have a bumpy ride in store.
• It was good to catch up with Cyril Vaussard, managing director of Louvre Hotel Group's new aparthotel brand Tulip Residences. Louvre has ambitious plans for rolling out the new flag, and Vaussard is likely to become a familiar face across the industry as Tulip Residences gains traction.
• Finally, don't forget that there is just a week to go until the entry deadline for the 2021 Serviced Apartment Awards. The awards have quickly established themselves as a highlight of the industry calendar, and indeed for many of us, the 2020 awards in early March were the last gathering of any size that we attended.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony in London on June 24th. For more information and to enter, visit www.servicedapartmentawards.com
