Moxy Hotels launches Great British Road Trip
A curated collection of five driving routes across 12 of the UK’s cultural hotspots has launched under Moxy Hotels.

• Packages and experiences are proving to be a popular revenue stream for hotels. Marketing techniques to up-sell and cross-sell has amplified as lockdown restrictions start easing, and Moxy Hotels is the latest brand to introduce an entirely new offering with the launch of its Great British Road Trip this summer.
Capitalising on the domestic tourism trend, the group has pulled together five itineraries that take guests across some of the UK's major cities - staying at select Moxy hotels along the way. I understand that travellers use their own vehicle, unlike The Hoxton's campervan tours where transport is provided. In this respect, the inclusivity of Moxy's offer will likely appeal to a wider group of travellers, and there's even an alternative train route for those without a car.
In the UK lockdown restrictions are yet to fully lift, with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirming on Monday that the government plans to end the majority of social rules on 19 July. It's a largely welcome relief for hotels ahead of the summer season, with two airlines trialling fast-track lanes at Heathrow airport for fully-vaccinated arrivals. The opening of international borders poses a threat to those businesses looking to bank on staycations, however I suspect there will be divide amongst the population as to who feels comfortable travelling abroad.
In the short-term at least, I can see those hotels that are diversifying operations and introducing offers like Moxy's Great British Road Trip to largely benefit in the months to come.
