Revolut enters travel sector with Stays launch

• UK fintech startup Revolut's entry into the travel sector with the launch of its new Stays feature is a firm challenge to traditional industry giants and OTAs, such as Booking, Expedia and TripAdvisor, as it looks to become the new go-to 'super app'.

 

Just a week after being valued at $33 billion, Revolut is launching Stays to allow users to receive up to ten per cent cashback when booking accommodation in the same place as they manage their finances, with exclusive rates and no booking fees. Now live in the UK, Stays will be rolled out in the rest of Europe and the USA over the coming months.

 

Much like Airbnb's vision to forge itself as an all-in-one travel portal, Revolut aims to offer multiple services through one single interface and support travellers in the post-pandemic landscape, overtaking the industry's major players. The rise of other 'neobanks' such as Monzo is an emerging trend, as fintechs target younger, millennial customers with a slick user experience as they return to travelling abroad.
