EDITOR'S COMMENT

• Ahead of this year's International Women's Day on Wednesday 8 March, the IHM editorial team [George Sell, editor-in-chief; Paul Stevens, editor, STRz; Eloise Hanson, editor, Boutique Hotel News; Felicity Cousins, assistant editor, Serviced Apartment News; and Isha Borkar, multimedia reporter] are delighted to unveil our selection of 22 empowered female leaders from across the hospitality and real estate spectrum.

This year's lineup features a host of inspirational female forces at the top of their game in the short-term rental, hotel, extended stay and urban living sectors who are making invaluable contributions to the growth of their respective segments.

While many of these leaders have been instrumental in forging a pathway for innovation, sustainability and solidarity [amid the Covid pandemic and war in Ukraine crises], what unites each of these trailblazers is a desire to nurture new talent and champion the next generation of female entrepreneurs emerging as leaders and disruptors in their sectors.

While efforts are being made to reduce the gender pay gaps, it is still estimated that 26 per cent of senior executives in all sub sectors of hospitality, travel and leisure are female [Raizup]. It is therefore vital that we continue to see progress on female representation in senior roles and at panels and events so that there is greater diversity in thought leadership and we can all move closer to gender parity.

We hope you enjoy reading this feature as our team did putting this together - who else do you think should be on our radar for 2024?
