EDITOR'S COMMENT

• Conversations around sustainability and ESG are drawing larger audiences all the time but sometimes it takes specific events to refocus our attention on how hospitality and real estate can lead the way in implementing more sustainable initiatives.

For this year's Earth Day [22 April], IHM's editorial team collated the insights of ten industry thought leaders to see how businesses are approaching sustainable measures themselves and understand what the priorities should be for each respective hospitality / real estate segment, from short-term rentals to hotels, serviced apartments and more. Among the industry leaders featured, we spoke to the likes of Jeremy Sampson [Travel Foundation], Phil Stapleton [Situ], Andreea Petrisor [GuestReady] and Adrian Gardiner [Mantis Collection].

Businesses can expect to be scrutinised more heavily regarding their sustainable and responsible tourism credentials, and this has been addressed in interviews with Catherine Powell [global head of hosting at Airbnb] and Andrew Martyn [CEO, Your.Rentals].

Ahead of the 2023 Shortyz Awards on Wednesday, STRz is also excited to partner with Green VR Events for the awards to lead by example in the industry to create meaningful eco-friendly ripples of change and organise events as sustainably as possible.

• The time has finally arrived and it promises to be a bumper week of STR / VR events!

Firstly on Wednesday [26 April], STRz will host an unmissable Urban Living Insights thought leadership event at The Stratford Hotel in London, with expert panellists representing  Cambon Partners, Fifth Wall, PriceLabs, Breezeway, AirDNA, Jurny and more.

Don't forget to book your last-minute tickets here to the Oscars of the short-term rental industry - the 2023 Shortyz Awards - from 6pm that evening at the ArcelorMittal Orbit in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, when 20 winners will be announced.

And finally on Thursday, meet the STRz team at the annual Short Stay Summit, which takes place this year at a new venue - Old Billingsgate. You can find us at Stand 3 and also catch us moderating two panels during the day - book your tickets here for another great event.
