EDITOR'S COMMENT
It's always a lot of fun compiling the IHM 'Ones to Watch' piece every year alongside my editorial colleagues George Sell and Eloise Hanson, highlighting the industry figureheads that we believe have a big 12 months ahead of them.
Our 25 selections have been chosen for a variety of reasons, whether they have been hired into a prominent role at an important company, are launching an innovative product in their specific market, or they have been tasked with steering their business through tricky waters. The individuals and brands in question span the entire travel, hospitality and real estate landscape, representing asset classes ranging from short-term rentals to hotels, serviced apartments, student / senior living, build-to-rent / multifamily and much more.
From a short-term rental perspective, it promises to be a big year for people such as Ariane Gorin, who became Expedia Group's first female CEO in May, and Payam Zamani, who has just invested in luxury travel subscription brand Inspirato and installed himself as CEO. Meanwhile, I'm excited to see how Nitin Sood [Marriott International], Jim Alderman [Airbnb] and Celine Hurelle [Intrepid Travel] leverage their extensive hospitality experience respectively, while Marco Celani [AIGAB and Italianway Spa] is one of the key lobbyists for fair and proportionate STR legislation in Europe.
