EDITOR'S COMMENT
• One of my favourite content pieces of the year is our IHM A-Z feature, detailing the major trends ahead across travel, hospitality and real estate, and this year's edition is no different in throwing up intriguing and ground-breaking concepts.
Looking ahead to the next 12 months, we cover everything from the evolution of dynamic pricing [and its potential uses or regulation, particularly in the wake of the Oasis tour tickets debacle] and visa changes with the new ETIAS visa introduction, to fresh regulation as the furnished holiday lettings tax regime [scrapping tax relief for holiday lets] ends in April.
On the other hand, the piece gives an insight into innovate phenomena and ideas that will emerge in 2025, from shifts in how we search [migrating from long-standing platforms such as X to Bluesky, and Google to Perplexity] to the concept of JOMO [the joy of missing out - as opposed to the fear of missing out] and the rise of influencer-led travel.
The A-Z therefore serves as an indication of the balancing shifts of power in travel, including not only traveller behaviour and our evolving preferences, but also who will influence the trip planning process and where we go to make our decisions. 2025 will be another transformative and unpredictable period that it is almost impossible to predict 12 months ahead - let me know at my email address below what you would have included in your A-Z.
And take a look back at last year's A-Z - how do you think we got on with our predictions?
